Yes, it is a universal value but please, Malaysians do not have third-world mentality. Based on the context, it is highly politicised. An independence slogan is something that have the ability to unite a nation regardless of their race, culture or political views. I think the universality value is there but the nationalism is not quite grasp by all. The slogan should portray our country’s vision and epitomises our hopes and dreams for national value and noble civilization. But then, it is perhaps perceived as a desperate mean to gain support (?)  It is rather quite disappointing. Well, at least they decided to change the logo. Talking about the logo, *sigh.facepalm* I’m not a designer nor am I in position to heavily criticize the design as I’m not in the industry professionally, but, seriously? There is indeed an economic downturn but designing a logo that constitutes creativity and full of symbolism does not cost much, I think. Some people even willingly to do it for free. Good thing they’re not going to use it as the main tool to promote our national day celebration . *Pray for Malaysia*
